A Cooking Class for the Newly Wed Couple

Although I love to cook for family and friends, and have cooked for decades now, I always feel a little like ‘exams time’ just before I do a cooking class (usually on typical italian food).

Today, I am going to be spending time with a young couple who are on their honeymoon in Frascati … and so I thought I would lay the table in advance, and make it a little special for them … edible rose petals on the table as well as real roses.  “Anche l’occhio vuole la sua parte” as they say in Italian: the eye wants its part too.

Lots on the menu … funghi porcini (ceps) and truffle (scrambled eggs with truffle are very good).3Artichokes, courgettes, fresh chillis, and a bunch of basil …4

Olive all’ascolana (olives stuffed with a meat mixture, from Ascoli Piceno in the Marche).

5Venus clams …

6Fresh anchovies (to be fried) …

7Courgette blossoms soaking in water …

8Brocolo romano and some date tomatoes (datterini) …

9101112We are going to be kept busy for sure.  And yes, we shall start with some porchetta and a nice glass of very cold champagne. Wish me luck!
